Position Summary

St. Mary’s Ryken High School seeks a creative and strategic Web & Digital Content Manager to lead the development, performance, and continuous improvement of the school’s website and digital content. This role ensures that smrhs.org serves as a compelling, mission-driven platform that clearly communicates the SMR experience, supports enrollment growth, and strengthens engagement with current families, alumni, and donors.

The ideal candidate is both a skilled storyteller and a hands-on digital builder with a strong eye for design, user experience, and performance. This individual will own the strategy and execution of SMR’s web presence and play a key role in shaping how the school is experienced online.

Key Responsibilities

Website Leadership & User Experience

  • Lead the strategy, structure, and ongoing development of the SMR website (Finalsite CMS)
  • Design and build high-impact landing pages for admissions, programs, events, and campaigns
  • Ensure a seamless, mobile-first user experience across all devices
  • Conduct regular audits to maintain accuracy, accessibility, and performance
  • Manage website navigation, page structure, and overall user journey

Content Strategy & Storytelling

  • Develop and maintain compelling, mission-centered content that reflects SMR’s Catholic identity and Xaverian values
  • Highlight key differentiators, including the Scholars Program, Flight Academy, fine arts, athletics, and campus ministry
  • Partner with departments to surface and tell stories that showcase student experience and outcomes
  • Support major initiatives including Open House, Knight for a Day, alumni engagement, and giving campaigns
  • Ensure consistency in voice, tone, and messaging across all web content

Enrollment-Focused Digital Strategy

  • Lead website strategy to support the full admissions funnel—from inquiry to application to enrollment
  • Collaborate with Admissions to strengthen calls-to-action, landing pages, and conversion pathways
  • Continuously optimize high-priority pages (Admissions, Visit, Apply, Tuition & Aid)
  • Support digital campaigns tied to recruitment and enrollment growth

Analytics, SEO & Performance

  • Track and analyze website performance using Google Analytics 4 and related tools
  • Implement SEO best practices to improve search visibility
  • Monitor user behavior and identify opportunities to improve engagement and conversion
  • Provide regular insights and recommendations to improve engagement and conversion

CMS Governance & Digital Standards

  • Oversee content management workflows, page standards, and user permissions within Finalsite
  • Ensure content accuracy, consistency, and adherence to best practices
  • Provide training and guidance to faculty and staff on website tools and content standards
  • Maintain a well-structured, up-to-date website with consistent content standards and scalable page templates

Design & Brand Stewardship

  • Apply strong design and user experience principles to page layout, content presentation, and visual hierarchy
  • Uphold brand standards aligned with SMR’s mission and strategic priorities

Collaboration & Support

  • Partner closely with Admissions, Advancement, Athletics, Fine Arts, and Campus Ministry to support digital initiatives
  • Collaborate with IT and Ed Tech Systems Administrator on integrations (e.g., Veracross), hosting, and technical performance
  • Support digital components of school-wide communications and campaigns
  • Stay current with emerging trends in digital communications, SEO, and AI-driven search
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience managing websites and digital content
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Experience with a CMS (Finalsite preferred)
  • Understanding of SEO, web analytics, and user experience best practices
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and web design principles
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a school, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization
  • Familiarity with Veracross or similar school systems
  • Familiarity with email marketing, automation tools, and CRM integrations
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Google Workspace and Canva
  • Experience supporting digital marketing or enrollment initiatives

Reporting Structure
  • Reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications and a member of the Advancement Team
  • Works in close collaboration with the Advancement Team and Information Technology

Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000

Location: Onsite - Leonardtown, MD
