Summary

As a Waterfront Dock Attendant, you’ll be the first point of contact for guests at the Hood Canal Marina and Alderbrook Waterfront Center. You’ll help with mooring vessels, support daily operations of the marina and Lady Alderbrook, and maintain a safe, clean environment. This active, guest-facing role involves frequent physical activity.

We're looking for someone who can...

  • Consistently work 4 to 5 days per week from mid-June through Labor Day weekend.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines set by the Harbormaster.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to guests and colleagues.
  • Accurately bill customers and maintain storage and moorage records.
  • Schedule and manage moorage reservations.
  • Greet and register arrivals, verifying boat registrations.
  • Rent recreational equipment, assist with launching and retrieval, and provide safety instructions.
  • Clean, store, and inspect rental craft, reporting any wear or damage to boats, docks, lines, and floats.
  • Ensure guests are properly fitted with PFDs and understand water safety.
  • Assess weather conditions for safe watercraft operation.
  • Maintain a basic knowledge of boat operations and maritime terminology.

Qualifications

  • Required | Available for work from mid-June through Labor Day weekend
  • Desirable | Prior experience with working docks, marinas, water sports, parks and recreation, or other outdoor activities
  • Lifeguard experience is a plus
  • Flexible work availability including weekends required
  • Equivalent education, skills, and/or experience necessary to perform the essential functions may be considered

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Physical Demands. The employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand for extended periods, walk, sit, climb stairs, demonstrate hand dexterity, reach, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, push, pull, jump, or crouch. They must regularly lift 40 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision. The role may also require sustained visual and mental concentration.
  • Work Environment. Conditions are typical of a marina and dock environment, with exposure to the elements, temperature variations from cold to hot, and moderate noise levels. The position also involves working on floating or moving docks and uneven surfaces.
