TITLE: Water Treatment Plant Operator C


SALARY: $27.09/hr - $41.98/hr


SCHEDULE: This role requires shift work, scheduled/unscheduled overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as immediate response to emergency conditions.


LOCATION: Central East Coast, Florida


OVERVIEW:

You will operate and maintain advanced water treatment facilities, use sophisticated control systems, and respond promptly to operational needs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate and maintain complex treatment facilities with automatic controls and telemetry systems.
  • Manage pumps, equipment, and mechanical/automatic controls to ensure proper water treatment and distribution pressures.
  • Conduct routine inspections, check meters and charts, and record daily readings.
  • Take water samples for chemical, bacterial, chlorine, and water quality testing.
  • Perform well checks and flushing procedures in distribution systems.
  • Prepare daily and monthly operational reports for regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor remote pump stations and interconnects, and address any malfunctions or low-pressure issues.
  • Maintain controls, meters, and related equipment, and perform scheduled operational duties.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Assist in troubleshooting system issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and repair procedures related to water treatment and distribution facilities.
  • Understanding of bacteriology principles.
  • Ability to read meters, charts, and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to focus on tasks in high-pressure situations and model respect and professionalism.
  • Valid Class C Water Treatment Plant Operator’s License issued by the State of Florida.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience operating and maintaining water treatment plants.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with a good driving record.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

MUST HAVES FOR ROLE:

  • Utility Pants: Employees must wear durable utility pants suitable for the work environment.
  • Safety Shoes: Steel-toed or other appropriate safety shoes are mandatory to protect against workplace hazards.
  • Candidates must consent to and pass a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
