The Town of Marana is seeking aWater Technology Support Specialist II to work in the Water Department to provide hands-on support for SCADA, telemetry, and industrial control systems with a strong emphasis on installation, troubleshooting, and system integration. This position requires the ability to work across a range of voltages, ensuring safe, code-compliant, and reliable operation of water and wastewater infrastructure systems.

Expected Hiring Range:$24.31 - $29.78

  • Placement within the expected hiring range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget

Salary Range: $24.31 - $35.25

  • Installs, wires, and troubleshoots electrical and control systems including:
    • Power distribution.
    • Control circuits.
    • Power supplies, relays, contactors, and protective devices.
  • Performs panel layout, wiring, and terminations for SCADA and telemetry panels in accordance with NEC and industry standards. Installs and connects field instrumentation (flow meters, level transmitters, pressure sensors, analyzers), including proper signal wiring (4-20mA, discrete I/O, communication wiring).
  • Installs and maintains radio communication equipment, antennas, and associated low-voltage power systems, including grounding and surge protection.
  • Troubleshoots electrical and control system issues including:
    • Loss of power
    • Blown fuses/breakers
    • Grounding issues
    • Signal noise/interference
    • Failed devices or wiring faults
  • Performs SCADA system support including:
    • Device commissioning
    • Tag verification
    • I/O checkout
    • Hardware diagnostics
  • Supports industrial networking equipment including switches, radios, and remote I/O systems.
  • Reads and interprets electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and P&ID’s.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on SCADA panels, RTU’s, and field equipment.
  • Assists in design review and implementation of new control panels, and systems upgrades.
  • Maintains documentation, asset records, and panel drawings.
  • Perform installation and maintenance of radio infrastructure using a bucket truck at ˜40FT.
  • Participates in 24/7 on call rotation.


  • Associate's degree (relevant experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis).
  • Minimum one year of hands-on experience in related field.
    • Relevant experience includes the following:
      • Control panel wiring and troubleshooting
      • SCADA, telemetry, or control systems environments
      • Demonstrated experience working with AC/DC power systems
      • Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
      • Field instrumentation and signal wiring (4-20mA, digital I/O)
      • Ability to safely troubleshoot energized systems using proper PPE and procedures

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass a pre-employment physical and a 25-pound lift test
  • Valid Arizona Driver License
  • Ability to pass both Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree in science, technology, industrial automation, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in water/wastewater SCADA systems.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) systems (hardware, diagnostics, integration, no programming).
  • Experience with industrial radio and telemetry systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Allen-Bradley Stratix switches.
    • Industrial networking fundamentals.
  • Experience building or modifying control panels.Knowledge of NEC, as it applies to industrial control panels.
  • Experience with:
    • VFD’s, soft starts, overload control modules and other motor control systems.
    • Instrument calibration and commissioning.
