About This Opportunity

Join us in shaping the future of water treatment at thebrand-newstate-of-the art water Willamette Water Supply System (WWSS) treatment plant! This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and high-quality drinking water to our community. The WWSS WTP is a partnership between Tualatin Valley Water District, City ofHillsboroand Beaverton. Hillsboro Water will beoperatingthe water treatment plant and raw water facility on behalf of the WWSS. Through this partnership, commissioning has begun, with delivery of potable water in late 2026.

We are currently seeking day shift and night shift Water Treatment Operators to join our team in operating and maintaining the WWSS water treatment plant. This is a brand-new state-of-the-art facility which includes a ballasted flocculation, ozone, and UV treatment. In this role you will play a critical part in ensuring optimal plant performance, along with successful commissioning and start up activities.

Position Overview

Water Treatment Plant Operator

As a Water Treatment Plant Operator, you will provide technical, operational and minor maintenance services related to water treatment plant operations, instrumentation, and service delivery. This position will report to the WWSS WTP located in Sherwood, OR. Night shift operators will initially work the first 4-8 months on day shift until such time 24/7 operations are required. The timing of transition from day to nights is dependent on construction schedule. The successful candidate(s) will be a certified water treatment plant operator with drinking water treatment plant operating experience whose day-to-day function will be monitoring, controlling, and maintaining plant processes to produce potable water that meets/exceed all federal, state and local requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on all water treatment plant assets and raw water facility assets. The raw water facilityis located inWilsonville.
• Use electronic operations and maintenance system to document all operational and maintenance activities, receipts, invoices.
• Operate water treatment plant processes and equipment, including solids dewatering, both locally and via SCADA system.
• Collaborative,works well within groups and independently, work with our partner entities, attention to detail. We are passionate about water!
• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance including calibration and repairs on water quality analytical instrumentation.
• Perform laboratory water quality analysis.
• Generate, review and analyze process reports for process monitoring, improvements and compliance with water quality targets and rules/regulations.
• Monitor supply of consumables such as chemicals and place orders as necessary.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
• In addition to the duties listed above, Level 3 and Level 4 Operators may serve in a lead capacity, providing guidance, coordination and technical support to assigned staff.

Work Schedule

Initial Compressed Schedule Monday - Friday

For the first 4-8 months the schedule for both day shift and night shift Water Treatment Plant Operators will be Monday-Friday, day shift, compressed schedule of 9 days /80 hours. Alternative schedules may be arranged upon approval.

7-on 7-off Schedule

After approximately 4-8 months, operators will move to a 7 on-7 off schedule. Under this schedule, operators will work for 7 days (or nights) for a total of 80 hours, followed by 7 consecutive days (or nights) off. At this time, the night shift operators will transition to night shift. Operators working night shift will receive a 5% night shift differential.

All operators will be required to be on-call on a rotating basis. On-call compensation will follow the City policy for on-callpay.

Treatment Level 3 = Water Plant Operator III$ 76,267 - $ 100,362

Treatment Level 4 = Water Plant Operator IV$ 79,318 - $ 104,377

Level 1 = Oregon Water Treatment Plant Operator I Certification

Level 2 = Oregon Water Treatment Plant Operator II Certification

Level 3 = Oregon Water Treatment Plant Operator III Certification

Level 4 = Oregon Water Treatment Plant Operator IV Certification

Additional Certifications Required

• Valid, current Driver’s License and safe driving record
• First Aid and CPR Certifications

Successful Water Treatment Plant Operator Candidates Will Have

• Experience operating a conventional water treatment plant via SCADA system.
• Experience documenting all aspects ofoperations,maintenance and troubleshooting tasks electronically.
• Experience working in a water,wastewateror similar environment.
• Ability to work safely around water, process chemicals and rotating equipment.
• HoldaOregon Water Treatment Operator license, or ability to obtain within 12 months
