INTERNAL APPLICANTS WILL BE GIVEN FIRST CONSIDERATION PURSUANT TO A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT
Under direct supervision of the WTP Supervisor and Manager, supports and assists in the operation of all water treatment facilities to ensure water is properly treated and delivered to customers via distribution system; that water is bacteriologically safe and aesthetically acceptable and meets or exceeds all State/Federal requirements; that treatment plants are operated in compliance with Federal/State and local laws.

WORKING HOURS: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Friday - Tuesday)

Performs site-maintenance by mowing grass, snow removal, removing trash, cleaning, house-keeping and painting duties for all structures and buildings at the water treatment plant; performs minor plumbing repairs on equipment, pumps, buildings and water lines; assists plant personnel in operations, repairs and maintenance of division facilities and equipment. Maintains a professional manner when interacting with both internal and external customers. Complies with workplace health and safety standards: wears required personal protective equipment; promptly report unsafe conditions; complies with all departmental, county, state federal policies/procedures/regulations and laws.

Performs daily checks to determine proper equipment operation (e.g. physically and/or through the System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system); under Plant Maintenance and/or Operator guidance, makes manual equipment adjustments where necessary; checks, reads and records plant data from the SCADA system; gathers samples from systems for laboratory analysis (Bac-T’s and fluoride); performs chlorine residual tests; monitors and records well draw-down levels daily on all wells and all elevated storage tanks, inspects all pumping stations daily and records instrumentation readings, checks plumbing at pumping stations for leaks per established schedule.

Loads and unloads delivery of supplies and equipment; monitors inventory levels of chemicals and recommends restocking to supervisor.

Climbs water towers for repair, maintenance and inspection; assists in distribution of customer boil order notices as required.

Performs others duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.), or completion of a vocational training program in field of application; 1 yr. of both equipment maintenance and grounds maintenance work experience; valid Ohio Driver’s License.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Ohio Class I Water Operator Certification*

*Must be attained within 3 years of employment or promotion.

Ohio Operator Certification Rules (OAC 3745-7) outline the requirements for obtaining a license or operator-in-training designation, for the purpose of this requirement obtaining an operator-in-training designation will meet the certification requirements of this position.EQUIPMENT USED:
Including but not limited to: process and pumping equipment; System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA); portable pumps and generators; volt and amp meters; analytical equipment (e.g., colorimeter); grounds maintenance equipment; snow removal equipment; pick-up truck; small hand tools; painting equipment, lathes, drill presses, power saws, mills and safety equipment.

VISUAL ACUITY:
The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach; performing mechanical or skilled trade’s tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc. The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The worker is subject to: both environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, oils; the worker frequently is in close quarters (crawl space, shafts, manholes, small, enclosed rooms, small sewage and water line pipes, and other areas which could cause claustrophobia; the worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.

MEDIUM WORK:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
