Wastewater Collections System Operator I

The first level in the Wastewater Collection Series is responsible for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of the City’s sanitary and storm sewer collection systems and lift stations. Responsibilities may include: performing jetting and televising of sewer mains and laterals; performing utility locates for sanitary and storm sewer systems; conducting basic manhole structure maintenance such as casting or lid replacement; assisting with lift station maintenance; entering work order and asset data into the City’s asset management software; and participating in the operations on-call rotation and plant rounds. 2026 Pay range: $34.46 - $44.59 hourly. 2027 Pay range: $35.84 - $46.37 hourly.

Wastewater Collections System Operator II

The second level in the Wastewater Collection Series is responsible for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of the City’s sanitary and storm sewer collection systems and lift stations. Responsibilities may include: performing jetting and televising of sewer mains and laterals; performing utility locates for sanitary and storm sewer systems; conducting basic manhole structure maintenance such as casting or lid replacement; assisting with lift station maintenance; entering work order and asset data unto the City’s asset management software; and participating in the operations on-call rotation and plant rounds. Employees at this level perform the full range of duties with greater efficiency and independence, may assist with training or mentoring Collection System Operator 1 staff, and are expected to exercise sound judgement in routine decision-making. 2026 Pay range: $37.27 - $48.30 hourly. 2027 Pay range: $38.76 - 50.24 hourly.

Wastewater Collections System Operator III

The third level in the Wastewater Collection Series is responsible for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of the City’s sanitary and storm sewer collection systems and lift stations. Responsibilities may include: performing jetting and televising of sewer mains and laterals; performing utility locates for sanitary and storm sewer systems; conducting basic manhole structure maintenance such as casting or lid replacement; assisting with lift station maintenance; entering work order and asset data unto the City’s asset management software; and participating in the operations on-call rotation and plant rounds. Employees at this level perform the full range of duties with advanced proficiency and minimal supervision, may assist with coordinating field activities or providing technical guidance to collection system operator 1 and 2 staff, and are expected to exercise sound judgement and initiative in complex operational or maintenance situations. 2026 Pay range: $39.12 - $50.67 hourly. 2027 Pay range: $40.68 - $52.70 hourly.

Hours of Work/Physical and Mental Demands
  • This is a full-time position. Hours are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Hours may vary due to departmental needs.
