Job Title: Warehouse Worker
Job Description

The warehouse worker receives, stores, and issues materials, equipment, and other items in a stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard. This role ensures inventory accuracy, maintains organized storage areas, and supports efficient material handling and distribution operations.

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming stock items, verify quantities, and accurately record data manually or using a computer system.
  • Count and document stock items on a regular basis to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or correct errors as needed.
  • Store items in an orderly, safe, and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other designated areas.
  • Label and identify stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Keep detailed records on the use, movement, and condition of stock items and stock handling equipment, including any damage.
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear, defects, or damage and promptly report issues to supervisors.
  • Provide assistance, guidance, or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers to support team efficiency.
  • Use RF scanners and other warehouse equipment to locate, pick, pack, and load materials as required.
  • Support material handling activities such as receiving, storage, inventory control, packing, and loading to meet operational needs.
Essential Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to document inventory and coordinate with team members.
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability to investigate inventory discrepancies and resolve stock issues.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of relevant warehouse equipment and tools used for receiving, storing, and moving materials.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and strategies that support secure and safe operations for the protection of people, data, property, and facilities.
  • Prior warehouse experience in pick, pack, and load operations, with 2–4 years of related experience required.
  • Experience using RF scanners for inventory and material handling tasks.
  • High school diploma or GED.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 2–4 years of experience in a warehouse, stockroom, or material handling role; previous titles such as Material Handler are relevant.
  • Experience with receiving, storage, inventory control, packing, and material handling processes.
  • Ability to maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Comfort working with both manual and computerized inventory recording systems.
  • Capability to inspect materials and equipment for wear, defects, or damage and report findings accurately.

Work Environment

This role is based in a warehouse, stockroom, or storage yard environment where you handle materials, supplies, and equipment throughout your shift. You work Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. using tools such as RF scanners, labeling equipment, and standard material handling equipment. The position involves standing, walking, and moving items in storage areas while maintaining clean, orderly, and safe workspaces in compliance with safety regulations. Dress is practical and suitable for a warehouse setting, with appropriate attire and footwear to support safe material handling.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Old Lyme, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.75 - $19.75/hr.
