Warehouse and Fuel Attendant

This is routine manual and clerical work in the operation of a warehouse and fuel reconciliation. Employees perform manual and clerical tasks in the receiving, storing, and care of equipment supplies and fuel management/reconciliation. Work involves responsibility for a small but diversified storeroom or specialized store work involving controlling a large amount of a single category of goods. In addition to the ongoing reconciliation for fuel within the counties operation. Work includes routine activities in the maintenance of simple work assignments, leaving only minor decisions of work methods to the employees of this class.

  • Observe fuel levels at seven fueling sites throughout Madison County.
  • Place orders with the fuel supplier as needed.
  • Manage fuel accounts for multiple county departments by adding, updating, and issuing fuel cards. Perform daily and monthly fuel reports for departments.
  • Set fuel pricing in the fuel system database as needed.
  • Answers phone when required.
  • Receives checks and documents receipt of goods; responsible for maintaining goods in proper storage places; receives and reviews delivery orders; withdraws goods from inventory, checking for required commodity, size, and lot; receives signed delivery tickets; posts to stock inventory record accounts.
  • Issues and distributes warehouse inventory to various departments as appropriate.
  • Cross reference inventory at the end of each month to ensure accuracy.
  • Responsible for assisting or performing physical inventory of stock.
  • An employee will be responsible for delivering merchandise to County Departments.
  • Retrieves old or damaged merchandise from departments for auctions.
  • Pick up supplies from local vendors. Maintain and service delivery vehicles when needed.
  • Maintain vehicle log and must submit vehicle deficiencies to the department supervisor.
  • Issue Purchase Order numbers when needed.
  • Initiates requisitions for replenishing stock inventory (subject to approval). Retrieves old or damaged merchandise from departments to be auctioned at a later date. Performs related duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • The position requires any combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of any level of primary or secondary education. A high school diploma or an equivalency diploma preferred. A CDL with Hazard Materials endorsement may be required.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability

  • Some knowledge of storeroom methods and procedures. Some familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods. Some general knowledge of transportation agencies and shipment methods. Ability to follow oral or written instructions, pack goods properly for shipment, and keep simple inventory and store records. Ability to communicate well verbally and by email with fuel provider. Some general experience with data entry and Microsoft Office preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • The worker is regularly required to talk and hear. The worker is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The worker is occasionally required to sit stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50lbs occasionally lift and/or move things that weigh more than 100 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
