VMware & Network Systems Administrator

Duration: 11 Months 30 Days

Location: Harrisburg, PA (Hybrid – Minimum 2 Days Onsite Per Week)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced IT professional with a strong background in VMware and network systems administration. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and maintenance of enterprise network and virtualization infrastructure. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of critical systems while supporting ongoing infrastructure initiatives.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across technical teams and stakeholders. This is a long-term contract opportunity with a hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, administer, and maintain enterprise network and virtualization infrastructure.
  • Manage and support VMware environments, including virtualization platforms and related technologies.
  • Administer physical and virtual server environments.
  • Support Microsoft, Red Hat, and Linux-based operating systems and appliances.
  • Perform system optimization, patch management, upgrades, and lifecycle planning activities.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure infrastructure availability and reliability.
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP services.
  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver infrastructure projects on schedule.
  • Respond to technical, system, and emergency issues outside of normal business hours when required.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and operational processes.
  • Perform additional infrastructure-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in VMware administration.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in network systems administration.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware technologies including:
  • vSphere
  • vCenter
  • vSAN
  • NSX
  • VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
  • Log Insight
  • Experience administering physical and virtual server environments.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Windows, Red Hat, and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining complex infrastructure systems.
  • Strong background in systems optimization, patch management, and lifecycle planning.
  • Experience managing projects and meeting established timelines.

  • Data Backup and Recovery
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Willingness to provide after-hours support and respond to critical incidents when necessary.
