Visiting Nurse Services (Finance) Internship

The Visiting Nurse Services (Finance) Intern supports the Atlantic Visiting Nurse Team in insurance verification, authorization processes, and financial coordination related to patient services. This role contributes to timely care delivery by ensuring accurate processing of insurance and authorization requirements.

Designed for a high-performing candidate, this internship provides exposure to the intersection of clinical care and healthcare operations, with a focus on how payer systems, reimbursement, and administrative workflows impact patient access and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance coverage for incoming referrals and perform re-verification as needed; document all findings in Epic. 
• Obtain, track, and support precertifications and authorizations, including submitting and reviewing required documentation. 
• Collaborate with insurance providers and internal teams to gather information and communicate updates impacting care delivery. 
• Manage and prioritize Epic work queues to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks. 
• Support documentation integrity through scanning, record maintenance, and resolving data discrepancies. 
• Assist with payer changes, retro authorizations, and related workflow processes. 
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
