Salary:Minimum: $89,091 | Midpoint: $106,727

About Victim Witness & Community Outreach Supervisor:
Serves as the primary liaison between the Linn County Attorney’s Office and victims of crime, ensuring compliance with Iowa Code Chapter 915 and supporting victim rights throughout the criminal justice process. Supervises the Victim/Witness Division staff and coordinating with law enforcement, service agencies, and community partners. Represents the office in media, community outreach, and interagency collaboration to strengthen victim-centered practices.
  • Serves as Chief Victim Liaison, providing direct contact and support to victims, and advocating on their behalf; ensures Iowa Code Chapter 915 compliance by supervising the Victim/Witness Program and recommending enhancements.
  • Assigns, directs, and supervises the work of Victim/Witness Coordinators, clerical staff, and investigators; participates in the hiring processes, develops and schedules training, and manages ongoing staff development within the Victim/Witness Division.
  • Builds and cultivates strategic relationships with law enforcement, service agencies, and community organizations to support victim-centered services.
  • Develops, modifies, implements, and oversees victim service protocols in collaboration with community and law enforcement partners.
  • Provides input on case resolution, trial preparation, and strategy to attorneys; coordinates witness preparation and participation.
  • Serves as media liaison and manages the office’s social media presence (as directed), including responding to inquiries and preparing public statements.
  • Represents the office at community events, public boards, coalitions, and outreach efforts (e.g., SART, Child Protection Teams, CJAB).
  • Maintains and updates written and digital materials used within the Victim/Witness Division and for public outreach.
  • Oversees the compilation and analysis of statistical data for internal reports, KPIs, budget justification, and community presentations.
  • Provides training to law enforcement, victim service agencies, and academy recruits on victim rights and procedures.
  • Responds to community requests for information or event participation, determining office engagement and delegating appropriately.
  • Assists attorneys with trial preparations, including victim/witness interviews, court notifications, and coordination of civilian/law enforcement witnesses.
  • Supports victims through trauma-informed communication, restitution assistance, court accompaniment, and referrals to service providers.
  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Criminology or related field that includes a Master’s Thesis in an area of scientific research.
  • Over 5 years of experience working in the adult criminal justice system required. Experience in public speaking, training law enforcement and victim service agency personnel, contact with media and public outreach required.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience preferred.
  • Certified Victim Service Provider (CVSP) preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge and skills for this position may be considered.
