Primary Services is actively recruiting for the Vice President of Environment, Health & Safety role on behalf of a large and established industry leader. This executive-level role will provide strategic direction and oversight for environmental, health, and safety programs across a nationwide portfolio of industrial operations. The Vice President of Environment, Health & Safety will lead organizational initiatives that strengthen safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and support continued operational growth and excellence.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute enterprise-wide EHS strategies aligned with organizational growth objectives.
- Establish standardized EHS policies, procedures, metrics, and reporting systems across multiple locations.
- Advise executive leadership on risk management, regulatory compliance, and environmental performance.
- Build and manage executive-level EHS dashboards and performance reporting.
- Lead, mentor, and develop regional EHS managers and specialists.
- Manage departmental budgets and long-term EHS planning initiatives.
- Drive a proactive safety culture focused on prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and improve key safety metrics, including incident rates, audit results, and near-miss reporting.
- Oversee environmental compliance programs, permitting requirements, and regulatory reporting.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state and local regulations.
- Conduct facility audits, site assessments, and risk evaluations across operations.
- Support new facility startups, acquisitions, integrations, and operational expansions.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action programs.
- Direct emergency preparedness, crisis response, and risk mitigation initiatives.
- Develop and implement enterprise-wide EHS training and leadership development programs.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, legal, HR, finance, and other business functions to advance EHS objectives.
- Travel to operational sites nationwide approximately 1–2 times per month.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- 10–15+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience within industrial, manufacturing, recycling, waste management, or related environments.
- Experience leading EHS programs across multiple facilities, regions, or business units.
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related regulatory requirements.
- Proven success in building, scaling, and improving enterprise EHS programs and safety culture initiatives.
- Experience developing EHS KPIs, reporting systems, compliance programs, and operational standards.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and managing high-performing teams.
- Ability to travel nationally as required.
- CSP, CIH, CHMM, or similar professional certification preferred.
- Bilingual English and Spanish proficiency preferred.
