Position Summary

 

Culinova is seeking an experienced and hands-on Vice President of Accounting, Controller to lead all accounting operations for our growing company. This critical leadership role will oversee the full accounting function and serve as a key partner to the CFO in delivering accurate, timely, and insightful financial information. The ideal candidate is a strategic yet detail-oriented leader with strong technical accounting expertise gained in both public accounting and industry, proven people-management skills, and experience with ERP systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations:
Directly manage the preparation and accuracy of all internal and external financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Team Leadership:
Oversee and develop a team that includes a Senior Accountant, Staff Accountants, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable personnel. Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture with a focus on continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Financial Controls & Processes:
Maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures. Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • ERP System Management:
Serve as the primary accounting owner of the company’s ERP system (NetSuite experience strongly preferred). Drive process improvements, system optimizations, and automation initiatives.
  • Collaboration & Support:
Work closely with the CFO on strategic financial initiatives, budgeting, forecasting, audits, tax compliance, and ad-hoc analysis. Partner with operational leaders across the business to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
  • Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local tax and regulatory requirements. Partner with the CFO to manage external audits and relationships with auditors, banks, and other financial partners.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

 

  • CPA License: Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in the state of Colorado is required.
  • Public Accounting Background: Prior experience in public accounting (Big 4 or regional firm) is strongly preferred.
  • GAAP Expertise: Deep and current knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience: 8+ years of progressive accounting experience. At least 3–5 years in a Controller or VP-level role is preferred. Experience in manufacturing, food & beverage, or consumer products is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated success managing and developing accounting teams. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Personal Attributes: Highly organized, analytical, and proactive. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and maintain the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Work Arrangement: Must be able to work on-site 5 days per week.
