Vice President, Data & Artificial Intelligence
As Vice President of Data & Artificial Intelligence, you will lead the enterprise strategy for data, analytics, and AI across a global pharmaceutical organization. This role is responsible for transforming how data is leveraged to accelerate drug development, optimize manufacturing, enhance commercial performance, and enable data-driven decision-making at scale.
You will partner with executive leadership across R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Commercial to build and operationalize advanced analytics and AI capabilities. The role combines strategic vision, technical leadership, and organizational influence to position data as a core competitive advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the enterprise data and AI strategy aligned with business priorities across clinical development, regulatory, manufacturing, and commercial functions
- Build and lead high-performing teams across data engineering, data science, AI/ML, and analytics
- Establish scalable data platforms, governance frameworks, and architecture to support global operations and regulatory compliance (GxP, FDA, etc.)
- Drive AI/ML use cases across drug discovery, clinical trials optimization, predictive maintenance, supply chain forecasting, and personalized medicine
- Partner with IT and digital teams to modernize data infrastructure, including cloud adoption and real-time data capabilities
- Champion data literacy and a data-driven culture across the enterprise
- Evaluate and manage external partnerships, including technology vendors, consulting firms, and AI startups
- Ensure responsible AI practices, including model governance, transparency, and ethical use of data
Qualifications:
- 12+ years of experience in data, analytics, or AI leadership roles, with significant experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industry
- Proven track record of building and scaling enterprise data and AI capabilities
- Deep understanding of pharma data domains including clinical, regulatory, manufacturing (MES), and commercial data
- Experience with modern data platforms (cloud, data lakes, real-time pipelines) and AI/ML frameworks
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence C-level stakeholders
- Advanced degree in a quantitative or technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related discipline preferred)
