Mackenzie Stuart have been engaged by a leading Real Estate firm who are looking for a Vice President of Asset Management to join their team and lead the performance of their senior housing portfolio.
The Vice President of Asset Management will oversee a portfolio of senior housing assets spanning multiple geographies and operating partners, responsible for driving financial performance, capital efficiency, and strategic execution across the platform.
Responsibilities
- Drive same-property NOI growth, margin expansion, and cash flow optimization across the portfolio.
- Oversee revenue strategy, rate management, discount governance, and contract mix optimization.
- Allocate capital to highest-return opportunities across unit upgrades, repositionings, expansions, and amenity enhancements.
- Oversee major renovation and repositioning projects in coordination with operators and internal construction management teams.
- Maintain a disciplined operator governance framework, including performance reviews, reporting standards, and budget approvals.
- Negotiate and administer incentive-aligned management agreements.
- Lead operator transitions when required, including due diligence, onboarding, and stabilization.
- Lead underwriting and execution of value-enhancing capital investments.
- Evaluate market dynamics, supply trends, and demand indicators affecting portfolio performance.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of real estate investment, asset or portfolio management experience, senior housing exposure preferred
- Comfortable navigating management and operating agreements, joint venture structures, financing arrangements, and lease instruments.
- Strong financial modelling skills, including forecasting, stress-testing assumptions, variance tracking, and sizing return implications of capital decisions.
- Fluent working across disciplines - operations, finance, legal, tax, development, and investment teams.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; familiarity with BI or portfolio reporting platforms is a plus.
- MBA, CFA, or equivalent advanced credential preferred; demonstrated expertise will be considered.
This role reports to senior leadership within the Investment Management platform. Regular travel to portfolio assets is expected and essential to this position.
