Carteret Community College is accepting applications for a part-time temporary Veterinary Assistant Instructor. Applications will be accepted until position is filled. Prepare course materials, including syllabus, curriculum, lectures, hands-on activities, and assessments aligned with program objectives.
Instruct students on the role, duties, and responsibilities of a veterinary assistant in both classroom and laboratory settings.
Compile bibliographies of specialized materials or assign outside readings to enhance student learning.
Construct, administer, and grade examinations, quizzes, assignments, and other assessments.
Maintain all required College records, including attendance, grade reports, and roll books in accordance with College policies.
Make recommendations to the Department Chair regarding supplies, equipment needs, and repairs to ensure an effective learning environment.
Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement, participation, and success.
Stay current with institutional policies, procedures, and program guidelines, and adhere to all College policies
EDUCATION:
Relevant degree or credential in veterinary technology, veterinary assisting, or a related field (associate's degree or higher preferred).
Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience as a veterinary assistant, technician, or in a similar role
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
Prior teaching or training experience preferred, but not required.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to student success and ability to adapt instructional methods to meet diverse learning need
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
Veterinary Assistant Certification or Veterinary Tech Diploma
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires prolonged standing and ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted.
