Venue Manager- North County Aquatic Center:

This is professional, administrative work in the direction of a comprehensive program at county recreational facilities, with emphasis on aquatic centers. Works independently under the general direction of the Aquatic System Manager.

  • Manages North County Aquatic Center and coordinates activities of staff engaged in providing services to the facility, including daily operations of the competition pool, diving well, and activity pool.
  • Develops staff schedules and maintains records; reviews and processes timesheets and schedules time off for assigned staff.
  • Determines work activities necessary to operate the facility, hires and assigns staff, establishes work schedules and oversees employee performance, including administering corrective action and discipline for both union and non-bargaining unit employees in accordance with County policies and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
  • Ensures facility safety and cleanliness, requests repairs and oversees upkeep and maintenance of all aquatic features, equipment, and surrounding grounds.
  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates aquatic staff, including lifeguards and guest services personnel; ensures proper certifications and ongoing professional development.
  • Oversees cash handling, admissions, pass sales, and reconciliation processes in accordance with County policies.
  • Responds to patron concerns, incidents, and emergencies; prepares reports and communicates with leadership as required.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, or related field, supplemented by a minimum of (2) two years of experience administering recreation programs and facilities, including supervisory experience.


An Associates of Arts degree with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Parks and Recreation programs to include directly related experience with aquatics programs, pool maintenance and operations, and facilities management may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree at time of hire.


Under this provision, the Bachelor's degree must be attained within four years of date of hire.

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:

  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Valid Lifeguard Certification
  • Valid Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator Certification

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of recreation philosophy and theory with considerable emphasis on best practices and techniques of recreation facilities management.

Ability to motivate professional and nonprofessional staff.

Ability to make written and oral presentations of plans, programs and budgets.

Skill and knowledge of all phases of aquatic safety and program activity.

Ability to work effectively with staff, professional and general public.

Ability to demonstrate flexibility and teamwork in aquatic and non-aquatic programming, special events and park activity.

Ability to coordinate special events both aquatic and recreational.

Ability to take on other duties and assignments when directed by administration.
