Job Summary and Qualifications
Performs Vascular Interventional examinations, ensuring patient safety and efficient patient flow within the Vascular Interventional Radiology Department.
Major Responsibilities:
- Perform routine radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.
- Assist physicians with interventional procedures.
- Maintainclinical competency and professional acumen.
- Provide radiation protection to patients, staff, and self.
- Maintain equipment and supplies.
- Perform all routine radiographic procedures and views according to the department Procedure Manual.
- Prepare and position patients for special procedures; obtain scout films, set up sterile trays.
- Position patients to obtain desired views and apply immobilization devices as required.
- Prepare patients and self for sterile technique.
- Assist physicians in passing catheters, wires, and related tools.
- Assist in the movements of patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, and radiographic tables.
- Assist physician with procedures in the interventional lab to include IR and vascular procedures.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings, i.e. staff, in-service training.
- Prepare and/or administer contrast media i.e., orally, IV, rectally.
- Confirm patient identification by verbal confirmation, ID band, etc.
- Describe nature and time requirements of requested examinations to patients.
- Provide radiation protection to patient, staff and self according to prescribed safety standards.
- Recognize emergency situations, initiate code procedures and administer first aid/CPR as needed.
- Record procedure data through EMR to include participants, exam time, and procedure performed.
- Restock supplies and maintain assigned work station/equipment in an orderly fashion and orders supplies.
- Adjust technical factors in proportion to patient and body part being examined while minimizing radiation.
- Identify problems and communicate to immediate supervisor, offer solutions as appropriate.
- Perform and/or assists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.
- Assist with the usage and record keeping of products through the inventory tracking system.
- Maintainclinical competency for designated area annually.
- Attend meetings and seminars external to the department in order to maintain professional acumen.
- Complete paperwork when applicable.
- Participate in identified professional organizations as required.
- Perform similar or related duties as assigned or directed.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- (ARRT-R) Radiography
- State of New Hampshire Medical Imaging & Radiation Therapy License Required
- Associate's Degree Required
