Position/Title: Upper School Physics Teacher

Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and talented educator to teach 9th grade Physics, AP Physics C: Mechanics, and possibly 10th grade Chemistry. The most desirable candidates will have experience teaching these science courses at the high school level and have demonstrated a commitment to engaging science education, including knowledge of and/or familiarity with modeling pedagogy. Desirable candidates will also have an interest and/or ability to teach in other scientific fields. Science teachers at Laurel School create a rich, inquiry-based learning environment that emphasizes hands-on laboratory work, class discussions, and research as core components of instruction and assessment. They work collaboratively with other STEM educators and are enthusiastic about developing and delivering effective lessons that differentiate instruction for a diverse group of learners.

Requirements
A successful candidate will hold a Bachelor of Sciences or graduate degree in Science Education, Physics, and/or a related scientific field. Prior experience teaching in an Upper School (Grades 9 – 12) setting is strongly preferred. Candidates should be enthusiastic about pedagogy – particularly inquiry-based, lab-centered, and application-driven approaches to science education. Successful candidates will also possess a positive attitude, excellent written and verbal skills, strong organizational skills, and demonstrated success in collaborative, collegial work environments. The candidate must possess or acquire and maintain a State of Ohio-issued teaching certificate.
