WEALTH MANAGEMENT (WM) OPERATIONS

Wealth Management Operations is a global organization operating in 11 cities across 7 countries in support of Wealth Management with client assets of $2.4T, 6.6M client accounts, and 16K Financial Advisors. The organization drives operational excellence by supporting business growth, enhancing the client experience, and improving operational efficiency with a strong foundation in risk and financial management through its member divisions; Chief Operating Office, Client Service Risk & Control, Capital Markets & Core Processing Operations, Product Operations & Account Services, Private Banking Operations, and Tax & Client Reporting Operations.

Functional Group Traditional Investments Unitized Resolution & Reconciliation

Function Overview

Morgan Stanley's Traditional Investments Team review and process Unitized IRA investor's portfolio of investments on a monthly and quarterly basis. Where Capital positions are reported, the investors Capital Balances are captured from the underlying Fund Administrators and vetted for accuracy against each funds Rates of Return. The role requires the reconciliation between files and documentation received from IRA funds and administrators to Morgan Stanley's books and records, the research and resolution of differences/breaks between the two sources of information and provide resolutions status as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Director will ensure the reconciliation and the process of the fund files are received and uploaded as expected. Follow up from the Director to ensure any breaks, soft or hard , are reviewed , find the appropriate resolution and solve these breaks. If needed, the Director will contacts the fund administration for clarifications.
  • The Director must consider the impact of exceptions related to the reconciliation between MS Alternative Investments books and records and the information provided by the investment fund companies.
  • The Director will perform a timely reconciliation and complex mismatch partner/escalate to complete timely reconciliation.
  • Identify potential problems and take mitigating or preventive measures, as well as, escalating issues and concerns to management as they occur
  • 1-3 years of experience in the financial services industry (Alternative Investments knowledge a plus)
  • College degree in Finance and or Accounting
  • Ability to perform reconciliations, conduct research and follow up, and resolve breaks
  • Proficient in the Microsoft suite of products with advanced Excel knowledge including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and understanding the importance of accuracy in quality of work/downstream impacts
  • Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent critical thinking / analytical skills
  • Excellent follow-up skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Series 7 or 99 is a must have
  • Ability to learn quickly, to engage in several detailed tasks at once, and prioritize competing urgent tasks.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Research transaction history in the Alternative Investments subscription funds history and compare to the statement transaction history.
  • Review and approve reinvestment in the transaction Alternative Investments system.

Role is Hybrid and will require in office attendance 3 days/week. #LI-Hybrid

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 68,000] and 125,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
