You will learn inspection skills, support enforcement of state regulations, and work closely with building professionals. Within this role, you will perform the following duties:
- Building Inspections:Examine a wide range of public and private buildings to check for compliance with safety, fire, energy, and accessibility requirements
- Construction Reviews:Evaluate construction and alteration work to confirm that it follows approved plans and state regulations
- Program Audits:Assess municipal code programs to determine whether they meet accessibility standards
- Safety Determinations:Identify unsafe conditions, document violations, and conduct follow up inspections to ensure that issues are corrected
- Investigative Tasks:Review work locations of public sector employees to determine whether structures, materials, and equipment are safe and compliant
- Agency Representation:Assist in preparing reports and participate in hearings and communications related to enforcement actions

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework:This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience inspecting commercial, industrial, or other public use buildings for compliance with building and safety codes;or
- Two years of building construction work which included the performance of skilled trades duties in the electrical, structural, plumbing, or mechanical trades;or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.
Post Employment Requirements:
- This position requires valid certification issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as an Accessibility Inspector/Plan Examiner within the probationary period.
- All positions in this job also require one of the following valid certifications issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, within the probationary period: Building Inspector, Electrical Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, or Energy Inspector.
Other Requirements:
- The selected candidate must live in or be willing to relocate to Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, or Union county by date of hire. Expenses will not be paid.
