Role Overview 

We are currently looking for a UAS Maintenance Technician/Instructor to join a global aerospace organisation. This will be an exciting opportunity to join a well-established, but growing, team of Engineers working on exciting new Unmanned Air Vehicles. 


Under indirect supervision, the UAS Maintenance Technician/Instructor III will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of all aircraft and related equipment. 


This role covers monitoring, testing, preventive maintenance, and repair of infrastructure equipment and associated electrical, mechanical, and sensor integration systems per specifications and operational procedures. 


The Technician may also serve as an instructor, delivering technical training and hands-on instruction to internal personnel and/or customers on UAS systems operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures. 


Tasks and Accountabilities 

As part of this role, you will be responsible for undertaking activities such as: 

  • Unmanned aviation ground handling 
  • UAV launch and recovery 
  • Maintain and troubleshoot aircraft systems and subsystems 
  • Perform maintenance and repair of aircraft structures 
  • Deliver training programmes to new UAV Maintenance Technicians, ensuring adherence to operational protocols and safety standards 
  • Remedy emergency situations as they arise 
  • Ensure standards are implemented and upheld in everyday activities 
  • Maintain equipment used to support aircraft mission efforts 
  • Analyse and interpret equipment log reports 
  • Diagnose and resolve operational problems 
  • Perform other duties as necessary and/or required 


Requirements 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS 


High school diploma or GED and 5-7 years of relevant experience 

Valid driver's licence 

Ability to perform routine and preventive maintenance for aircraft systems/subsystems and ground support equipment 

Experience diagnosing/troubleshooting engines, flight controls, avionics, technology, and associated system components 

Knowledge of rigging equipment and safe rigging techniques 

Ability to travel 75% CONUS and OCONUS 

Must currently possess and maintain a DoD Secret level security clearance 

Must have ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret level security clearance 

May be required to drive a vehicle with a manual gearshift 


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS 

Military flight experience is highly desirable 

Experience in deployed UAS ISR operations 

Composite, structural, and mechanical repair experience 


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation, including perceiving differences in wire/cable colours, moving or lifting items weighing up to 100 lbs, and working at height 

Must be able to obtain a DOT physical
