TS/SCI Simulation System Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a TS/SCI‑cleared Systems Engineer II to support a federal customer in Suffolk, VA. This team develops and manages real‑time Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) that securely transfer simulation data between Top Secret and Secret environments. The role focuses on enforcing strict security rules while preserving realistic training effects across classification boundaries.


Responsibilities

  • Implement CDS rulesets to control data flow between security domains (allow, deny, sanitize).
  • Analyze DIS protocol data structures and identify objects/interactions appropriate for CDS transfer.
  • Support integration of JLVC HLA FOM data into CDS‑compliant formats.
  • Engineer data transformation solutions to convert high‑classification information into releasable lower‑classification formats.
  • Ensure traceability of training audience actions and simulation effects across classification levels.
  • Collaborate with security accreditation authorities to achieve CDS certification and compliance.
  • Evaluate and address limitations of fixed‑format CDS data packets in modern network environments.
  • Support system integration, testing, and validation of CDS capabilities within simulation architectures.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation (interface specs, data handling guides, etc.).
  • Provide systems engineering support across requirements, design, implementation, and verification phases.


Compensation & Benefits

  • $45/hr – $52/hr (based on skills, experience, and education).

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience:
  • 5 years + Bachelor’s, OR
  • 3 years + Master’s, OR
  • 0 years + PhD/JD, OR
  • 9 years + HS diploma/equivalent
  • Exceptional communication skills; ability to coordinate with senior government and military personnel.
  • Strong ability to operate in complex, high‑stakes environments with a focus on timely delivery.
  • Familiarity with DIS and/or HLA simulation protocols.
  • Basic understanding of Cross Domain Solutions or multi‑level security environments.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, data formats, and system integration.
  • Experience working in secure or classified environments.
  • Understanding of DevSecOps principles and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Linux and/or Windows server environments.


Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Experience with Joint Live Virtual Constructive (JLVC) environments.
  • Knowledge of CDS tools such as Radiant Mercury or similar guard technologies.
  • Experience with DIS and HLA FOM in simulation systems.
  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity and accreditation processes (RMF).
  • Experience with data transformation, filtering, or sanitization across classification levels.
