TRUSTS & ESTATES ATTORNEY – COUNSEL/PARTNER LEVEL

We are a dynamic, established law firm of approximately 40 attorneys with a growing and sophisticated general practice representing a diverse and high-net-worth clientele. We are seeking a senior-level Trusts & Estates attorney at the Counsel or Partner level to join our firm in a prominent and consequential role. The ideal candidate will possess deep experience not only in drafting Wills, Trusts, and ancillary estate planning documents, but also in handling complex, high-value estate planning matters, including:

Advanced tax planning strategies, including federal and state estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax planning

Sophisticated trust structures such as SLATs, GRATs, IDGTs, QPRTs, CRTs, CLTs, and Dynasty Trusts

Multi-generational wealth transfer and family succession planning, including for family-owned businesses and closely held entities

Business succession planning, including buy-sell agreements, ownership restructuring, and exit planning

Charitable planning, including private foundations, donor-advised funds, and charitable remainder and lead trusts

Fiduciary matters, including trust administration, probate, and estate settlement

International estate planning considerations for non-domiciliaries or clients with cross-border assets

The ideal applicant will be a smart, motivated, and proactive team player with demonstrated experience advising ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners on all aspects of estate and tax planning. Strong drafting skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively across practice groups are essential. An LLM in Taxation is strongly preferred. A portable book of business in the range of $300,000 to $500,000+ is also preferred, though exceptional candidates with the right experience will be considered. Our firm offers the collegial atmosphere of a smaller firm with the resources and sophistication of a larger practice, excellent career potential, flexible working arrangements, competitive compensation, and a premier Grand Central midtown Manhattan location. New York Bar admission required.

Compensation: $200,000 – $250,000+, commensurate with, among other things, experience, qualifications, and business origination.
