This Position is ONLY Open to Montgomery County Government Employees:

  1. Current Montgomery County Government employees;
  2. Montgomery County employees who was affected by reduction-in-force and currently have RIF priority rights;
  3. Active Montgomery County local fire and rescue department volunteers with at least 50 points under the length of service award program (LOSAP); or
  4. Active Project SEARCH Interns or former Montgomery County Government Customized Employment Public Interns, or Project SEARCH Interns within 24 months of completion of internship.


Please note: The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $55,517 to $81,688, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR


ABS is seeking highly qualifiedTruck Drivers/Warehouse Workersresponsible for operating heavy duty closed box-trucks to make deliveries of alcoholic beverages to County licensees and County liquor stores.

Truck Drivers/Warehouse Workers are responsible for operating heavy duty closed box-trucks to make deliveries of alcoholic beverages to County licensees and County liquor stores.


  • Performing truck operator maintenance checks and services, and paperwork.


  • Operating a truck to make deliveries, following route and delivery instructions.


  • Checking orders placed onto trucks.


  • Unloading merchandise with the aid of a helper.


  • Directing the helper to assist with unloading and movement of merchandise into customer storage area(s).


  • Verifying shipments to customers and recording discrepancies or changes.


  • Filling forms for returns or credits and adjusting on invoices.


  • Collecting payments and signing copies of invoices.


  • Checking shipments received at warehouse; filling orders; and working the pick-line for customer pickup.


  • Operating a hand cart.


  • Performing other general warehouse job duties and job-related duties as required.


Selected candidates for this position are required to successfully complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol screening and lifting evaluation. Any applicant who fails these requirements may be disqualified from employment for this position.


Physical effort is required at times to lift, carry, and move product. This position requires pushing, pulling, and performing controlled drops of product along with related tasks; and uses forklift, cherry picker, pallet jack, powered pallet jack, hand cart and other warehouse equipment to access and transport product in the warehouse.


A criminal background check will be conducted on the selected candidate prior to appointment and will be a significant factor in the hiring decision.

Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a Truck Driver Helper/Warehouse Worker with the Department of Liquor Control, or two (2) years of experience driving and delivering in the industrial or commercial supply industry.


Education:Ability to read and write in English and compute orders and money.


Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.


Physical Ability:Ability to move by lifting, pushing, or rolling, objects weighing up to and including one hundred-sixty (160) pounds.


License: Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class B or Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) from the applicant’s state of residence.


Medical Protocol: This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment medical evaluation, which includes a physical examination and drug screening.


There are no preferred criteria for this position. All Applicants will be reviewed by the Office of Human Resources (OHR) for minimum qualifications. Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated “Qualified,” placed on the Referred List, and may be considered for an interview.


Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following:


  • Knowledge of safe commercial driving practices and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, especially as they relate to operating Class B or Class A vehicles.


  • Familiarity with warehouse operations, including inventory handling, order fulfillment, and use of equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand carts.


  • Skill in operating commercial delivery vehicles in urban and suburban environments, including navigating delivery routes and managing time effectively.


  • Skill in customer service and communication, especially when interacting with licensees and store personnel during deliveries.


  • Ability to complete delivery documentation accurately, including invoices, returns, and payment collection.


  • Ability to work effectively as part of a delivery team, including coordinating with helpers and warehouse staff.
