Provide legal defense for insured clients involved in litigation cases in New York, overseeing the process from the beginning until a verdict or settlement is reached. Participate in depositions, court conferences, and trial proceedings. Oversee the management of pleadings and the discovery of documents. Assess liability and damages, and communicate findings to the insurance carrier. Carry out legal research and draft motions.
A Juris Doctor degree and admission to the New York State Bar are necessary. Candidates should possess 5 to 10 years of experience in general negligence litigation, including Labor Law cases. Recent experience with jury trials involving multimillion-dollar cases leading to a verdict is essential. The applicant should be capable of independently managing litigation cases. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 is required, along with experience in legal case management software, with a preference for TrialWorks. Candidates must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, evidenced by success in summary judgment motions or appellate briefs. Strong research capabilities are essential. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required. The ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment is also necessary. Candidates should exhibit strong organizational skills, along with the capacity to multitask and prioritize work efficiently. This involves managing court appearances, depositions, and administrative tasks. Superior research abilities and analytical skills for handling complex issues are mandatory. Willingness to travel for court appearances, site inspections, and depositions across New York is required.
