Job Description

This role offers a mix of shop fabrication and on-site installation work for an experienced pipefitter who is comfortable with regular travel. You will help fabricate piping systems in the shop one week and then travel to install and assemble them at customer jobsites the following week. The position suits someone who enjoys hands-on industrial work, reading blueprints, and seeing projects through from fabrication to final installation while working a predictable four-day work week.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, assemble, and install industrial piping systems according to project specifications and blueprints.
  • Perform pipe fitting tasks in both shop and field environments, including measuring, cutting, threading, and fitting pipes.
  • Use MIG welding and other appropriate welding techniques to join and secure piping components as required.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and fabrication plans to ensure accurate layout and installation.
  • Prepare piping assemblies in the shop during designated fabrication weeks, ensuring quality and accuracy before shipment.
  • Travel from the shop to various jobsites using company-provided vehicles to install and assemble piping systems on-site.
  • Work a typical travel schedule of leaving from the shop on Monday morning and returning home on Thursday evening, or follow extended schedules such as ten days on and five days off when jobsites are farther away.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in both shop and field settings.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete projects on time and to quality standards.
  • Accurately track time, including drive time, and report work performed in accordance with company policies.

Essential Skills

  • 6 months to 3+ years of pipefitting experience in industrial or similar environments.
  • Proficiency in pipe fitting, including measuring, cutting, fitting, and assembling piping systems.
  • Ability to perform MIG welding on piping and related components.
  • Experience with industrial installation and assembly of piping systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Solid understanding of piping, fittings, and fabrication processes.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly for work, including multi-day trips.
  • Capability to work four ten-hour days and extended schedules such as ten days on and five days comp time when required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in shop and field environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a smaller, family-oriented industrial or construction company environment.
  • Both shop-based fabrication and field installation work.
  • Comfort working in a team and communicating effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Adaptability to rotating between local projects and travel projects based on business needs.

Why Work Here?

You will join a family-owned, smaller company that offers meaningful opportunities for advancement and values long-term employee and family well-being. The organization provides individual or family health insurance, investment matching, generous paid time off, and a consistent four ten-hour-day work week designed to support work-life balance. Company vehicles are provided for travel to jobsites, and a private airplane is used when needed to shorten travel time and help employees get home to their families sooner. Travel and local projects are intentionally rotated to maximize home time, reflecting a strong commitment to supporting employees’ family lives and overall quality of life.

Work Environment

You will work in both a shop and field environment, typically fabricating product in the shop one week and then traveling to install and assemble it at the jobsite the following week. The role involves industrial settings, including fabrication areas and active jobsites, where you will handle piping, fittings, and welding equipment such as MIG welders. The standard schedule centers on four ten-hour days, with a typical travel pattern of leaving from the shop Monday morning and returning Thursday evening. For more distant jobsites, schedules may shift to ten days on followed by five days of compensatory time, with overtime paid after 40 hours per seven-day period. Company vehicles are provided for transportation from the shop to the jobsite, and drive time is paid. The environment emphasizes safety, teamwork, and a balance between travel projects and local work to support employees’ home and family time.
