Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art precision CNC equipment in a fast-growing manufacturing environment that supports research, development, and mass production for aerospace, military, and defense applications. You will work primarily with advanced 5-axis vertical milling machines to produce high-precision components from challenging materials, contributing directly to high-performance, mission-critical products. This position is available on a 2nd shift schedule and includes regular overtime opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain 5-axis CNC vertical milling machines to produce precision components to exact specifications.
  • Set up CNC machines, including tooling, workholding, and offsets, to support efficient and accurate machining operations.
  • Interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings to ensure precise machining and correct feature dimensions.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to verify and achieve required tolerances and part quality.
  • Utilize Fanuc or Heidenhain controls to run programs, adjust parameters, and ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Program or edit G-code and M-code at the control to refine processes, correct issues, and improve machining outcomes.
  • Work with a variety of materials, including alloys, stainless steel, titanium, and plastics, adjusting machining strategies as needed.
  • Monitor machining processes, inspect parts, and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity standards.
  • Collaborate closely with team members across departments to meet production goals and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures to maintain a safe work area and protect equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation and contribute to overall shop cleanliness.
  • Support the operation of Makino T1/T4 and DMG Mori machines and leverage their capabilities for complex machining tasks.

Essential Skills

  • 3–4 years of experience performing setups and operation on 3- or 4-axis CNC machinery, including vertical and/or horizontal milling.
  • Proficiency using Fanuc controls to perform setups and make edits to G and M code at the machine.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and its application in machining and inspection.
  • Hands-on CNC machining experience in a production environment, with a focus on precision components.
  • Ability to work effectively with alloys, stainless steel, titanium, and plastics, or similar industrial materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
  • Ability to work 2nd shift (4:30 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.) and support overtime as needed

Work Environment

The facility provides a clean, climate-controlled, air-conditioned manufacturing environment with around 100 CNC machines distributed across three facilities on a single campus. The operation is ITAR compliant and emphasizes structured processes, safety, and quality. Employees work on advanced equipment, including Makino T1/T4 and DMG Mori machines, in a setting that encourages collaboration and continuous learning. The organization maintains an open-door policy, giving employees the opportunity to work closely with and ask questions within each department.

The core schedule for this role is 2nd shift, from 4:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., with regular overtime opportunities. Traveling machinists may receive per diem when applicable.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
