Transportation Brokerage Account Manager


Job Summary

We are seeking a driven and results-oriented Transportation Brokerage Account Manager to manage and grow a portfolio of client accounts. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for shippers, ensuring their transportation needs are met through efficient logistics solutions. This role requires a "hunter" mentality to prospect new clients while nurturing long-term relationships with existing customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Account growth and retention: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, provide exceptional customer service, and build long-term relationships to retain and grow a book of business.
  • Business development: Identify and secure new clients through proactive prospecting, warm and cold outreach, and lead generation.
  • Rate negotiation: Negotiate and quote competitive freight rates with both customers and carriers to maximize profitability.
  • Operational coordination: Collaborate with the operations and carrier teams to ensure seamless execution of freight shipments, from initial booking to on-time delivery.
  • Problem resolution: Proactively track and trace loads, and swiftly resolve any issues, delays, or service disruptions that arise during transit.
  • Market analysis: Stay informed on market trends and industry regulations to advise clients on optimal logistics strategies.
  • Performance reporting: Track key account metrics, such as sales targets, revenue goals, and customer satisfaction, and report progress to management.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in freight brokerage, transportation, or a related sales/logistics role. A proven track record of managing and growing client accounts is preferred.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is often preferred, but relevant experience is also highly valued.
  • Industry knowledge: A strong understanding of logistics, transportation regulations, and market dynamics is required.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and experience with a Transportation Management System (TMS) and CRM software are preferred.
