Transport & Facilities Engineer

Location: Dallas, TX

Job Summary

The Transport & Facilities Engineer is responsible for installing, provisioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting transport equipment, dark fiber, DWDM systems, and network infrastructure across hub offices, data centers, collocation sites, and customer locations. This role also supports facility operations including alarms, power systems, generators, contractor coordination, and emergency response in partnership with the NOC and Engineering teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and provision transport and MUX equipment.
  • Troubleshoot DWDM transport, dark fiber, and network outages.
  • Perform fiber testing, wiring, cabling, and equipment installations.
  • Support hub offices, data centers, colo facilities, and customer sites.
  • Monitor alarms, power plants, batteries, and emergency generators.
  • Coordinate with Network Engineering, Service Delivery, and vendors.
  • Support facility maintenance, contractor oversight, and building operations.
  • Maintain inventory, logs, records, and operational documentation.
  • Respond to customer issues, installations, disconnects, and outages.


Required Experience

  • 3+ years of telecom transport, fiber installation, or facilities experience
  • Hands-on experience with DWDM transport troubleshooting
  • Experience with transport switching, network equipment, and fiber testing
  • Ability to troubleshoot alarms and network outages
  • Experience working in data centers, collocation sites, or hub facilities
  • Basic electrical and facilities awareness preferred
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills


Preferred Background

  • Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering background preferred.
  • Experience supporting transport hubs, central offices, or optical networks.
  • Familiarity with vendor coordination and contractor management.
