T-Line Project Engineering Manager – Transmission Lines (69kV and Above)

If you are a collaborative leader with deep technical knowledge, a passion for mentorship, and the drive to execute complex, high-stakes projects, we invite you to join our team as a T-Line Project Engineering Manager.

Multiple Office Locations: Hybrid 3 days per week in office in Tualatin, OR; Irvine, CA; Houston, TX; Overland Park, KS; Denver, CO; Bloomington, MN; Ann Arbor, MI; Raleigh, NC; Orlando, FL.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively promote and reinforce the safety culture across all phases of project execution.
  • Respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and develop competitive, detailed proposals for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services.
  • Lead project teams through conceptual design, procurement, and construction support for substation, distribution, and transmission line projects, with a primary focus on 69kV and above.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and scopes for services and EPC work.
  • Interface adeptly with clients, external stakeholders, and internal teams, ensuring clarity, alignment, and project success.
  • Mentor and train engineers assigned to active projects, providing day-to-day technical oversight, performance feedback, and skill development—especially in PLS-CADD and related tools.
  • Develop and deliver internal training content, including guides on conductor/insulator selection, foundation design, and use of engineering software.
  • Serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), bridging the experience gap between junior entry-level engineers and seasoned project leads.

Location Preferences:

  • Hybrid 3 days per week in office in Tualatin, OR; Irvine, CA; Houston, TX; Overland Park, KS; Denver, CO; Bloomington, MN; Ann Arbor, MI; Raleigh, NC; Orlando, FL.

Travel Requirement:

  • Minimal. Travel up to 25% to project sites as needed.

Reporting Structure:

  • Responsible for technical oversight of project-assigned engineers, who will report directly for the duration of the project.
  • Mentor, train, and provide performance review feedback for engineers, though ongoing career development and resource planning are managed by discipline resource managers.
  • Support construction teams through EPC delivery, providing expert guidance on structural challenges in the field.
  • Not responsible for direct reports’ overall development outside active project assignments.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field); 10–12 years of experience in transmission line design and engineering (minimum 8 years required). Professional Engineer (PE) license heavily preferred.
  • Transmission Experience: Demonstrated expertise in design and delivery of high-voltage transmission lines (69kV and above, with exposure to 500kV+ strongly preferred).
  • Structural Focus: 90% of role involves structural (civil) engineering—foundations, framing (steel, concrete, wood), and material selection. Experience with steel, wood, laminate, and composite structures; lattice tower experience is a plus.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in PLS-CADD essential; ability to train junior staff on the platform. Experience creating training content for engineering tools and guides.
  • Project Leadership: Proven record leading technical execution of EPC projects, especially during the construction phase. Construction support and field services work experience highly valued.
