Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented new PhD graduate to join our
Translational Medicine team as an Scientist. In this role, you will support early-stage translational strategies in oncology, autoimmune, and respiratory diseases, working alongside experienced leads on early programs and Global Project Teams (GPT). This is a growth-oriented role designed for a recent graduate with deep disease biology knowledge who is eager to learn how to translate scientific insights into drug development decisions—including patient selection strategies and companion diagnostic (CDx) exploration.
Core Responsibilities (with strong learning & growth components):
• Translational Strategy Support: As a contributing member of the project team, you will help support the development of integrated translational medicine strategies for early R&D, learning how to translate disease biology insights into testable clinical hypotheses under the guidance of senior team members.
• Scientific Direction & Patient Definition: Apply your foundational expertise in disease biology to contribute to the exploration of disease mechanisms. You will learn how to use translational research data to help define target patient populations, gaining hands-on experience in precision development strategies.
• Translational Research Execution: Contribute to the design and execution of key experiments to characterize mechanisms of action (MoA) and pharmacodynamics (PD). You will receive training and hands-on experience in developing and validating biomarkers for patient selection and efficacy assessment, as well as exposure to CDx development pathways.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Learn to serve as a translational science liaison, working closely with early discovery, clinical pharmacology, and clinical teams. You will develop skills in ensuring data continuity and effective integration across different stages of development.
• Decision Support: Learn how to generate and present core translational science data to support key program decisions, with mentorship on how to articulate the scientific logic from target to patient.
Qualifications (tailored for a graduating PhD):
• Education: PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Cancer Biology, Immunology, Respiratory Biology, Pharmacology, or a related discipline). Graduating or within 1 year of graduation.
• Foundational Expertise:
o Strong knowledge of disease biology in at least one of the following areas: oncology, autoimmune diseases, or respiratory diseases.
o Hands-on experience with basic biomarker or mechanistic research during graduate training (e.g., using techniques such as flow cytometry, IHC, ELISA, qPCR/dPCR, or NGS in a research setting).
o Familiarity with the concepts of MoA and PD studies (academic experience is sufficient).
• Eager to Learn: No prior industry experience required; however, you must demonstrate a strong interest in drug development, biomarker-driven patient selection strategies, and the overall translational medicine pipeline.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
