Transfer Credit Evaluator

The University of Virginia's Undergraduate College of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a restricted Transfer Credit Evaluator position. The position will work with the Transfer Credit Manager, Undergraduate A&S Assistant Registrar, and other administrative staff to evaluate and process domestic and international transfer credits for undergraduate A&S students, as well as be an integral part of helping to shape transfer credit processes for the future. This position presents an opportunity to positively impact the broad scope of students and services offered by the College of Arts & Sciences, such as:

  • Enter external course data from transcripts and post transfer credits to student records for incoming transfer, dual enrollment, and study abroad credit
  • Review and process transfer credit requests from enrolled students
  • Evaluate new courses for transfer eligibility and determine internal course equivalents for transfer credit
  • Verify student scores and credit eligibility and post credit to student records for domestic and international test credit.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, four years of higher education or student records experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Two years of administrative experience in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Related experience in a higher education academic office, including experience with transfer credit processes, is preferred.
  • Capacity to learn an array of information relative to A&S academic policy and procedures.
  • Motivation to work independently with little guidance is critical but should also be able to work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks and assignments.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • The ideal candidate possesses effective, professional interpersonal skills and can work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to evaluate/assess student needs, apply information, or make appropriate referrals when necessary.
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications. MS Access, Oracle SIS, Slate, and UBI knowledge are preferred.

About the Position

This position reports directly to the College Transfer Credit Manager with strong ties to the College Assistant Registrar.

This position is a restricted position and will be contracted for 18 months. The position may be renewed, dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance. This is a non-exempt level, benefitted position. For more information on the benefits at UVA, visit Benefits. This position is primarily remote.

The salary range for this position is $55,000-60,000. This position will not consider candidates who require immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
