Training Specialist (IDD)
We are seeking an experienced Training Specialist to support staff development, onboarding, competency training, and ongoing education initiatives within a growing human services organization.
This role will be responsible for developing and delivering both medical and non-medical training programs designed to equip employees with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in their roles. The ideal candidate is a strong facilitator who enjoys coaching, mentoring, and creating engaging learning experiences that drive employee success and quality outcomes.
This position offers the opportunity to help expand and enhance the organization's training capabilities while partnering closely with operational leadership to build a highly skilled workforce.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding programs
- Deliver classroom, virtual, and hands-on training sessions
- Conduct competency assessments and skills evaluations
- Develop and update training materials, presentations, and learning resources
- Provide coaching and support to employees throughout their development
- Partner with leadership to identify training needs and performance gaps
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Track training completion and competency requirements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to workforce development

- Health and wellness promotion
- Recognition and response to common health conditions and symptoms
- COPD awareness and symptom identification
- Diabetes and hypoglycemia awareness
- CPAP equipment education
- Medication-related training
- Safety procedures and emergency response

Qualifications
- Experience delivering training, education, staff development, or workforce development programs
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills
- Experience creating training materials and learning content
- Ability to communicate complex topics in a clear and engaging manner
- Experience in healthcare, human services, IDD, behavioral health, residential services, or a related field preferred
- Experience conducting competency-based training and assessments preferred
