Role Overview:
This position will coordinate and participate in daily traffic marking operations. Interpret work orders, blueprints to determine project requirements. The ability to troubleshoot and maintain the Special Markings trailer and all its equipment. Operate and direct the use of equipment such as striping trucks, thermoplastic applicators, and hand tools. Ensure the proper mixing, application, and curing of marking materials (paint, thermoplastic). Maintain accurate records of materials used, work completed. Enforce safety procedures and traffic control protocols at work sites. Inspect work to ensure quality and regulatory compliance. Communicate effectively with supervisors, and the public as needed. Ability to work varied hours, including nights and weekends, and in varied weather conditions. Shifts are 6am-4pm 4 days a week during summer months and 7am-3pm 5 days a week in the winter. On call for traffic signs department and snow removal during the winter months. Mandatory overtime is required for emergency operations, including winter. Candidate must have strong communication, driving and problem-solving abilities. Strong computer skills recommended. CDL A required or ability to obtain one within the designated time frame.

This position is with INDOT's LaPorte District's Traffic Division, Special Markings & Paint Crew.
Pay Rate:
This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $22.00.
CDL Positions:
Candidates with a current CDL and endorsements required by the district will earn an additional $1 per hour. Candidates without a CDL will be given 90 days to obtain their CDL and endorsements required by the district and will then earn an additional $1 per hour. CDL training provided onsite by certified INDOT staff.
