This is an opportunity to join an active trademark litigation practice for an associate with three to six years of experience who is ready to take on more responsibility and move closer to the center of active matters. The Associate will work directly with a hands on IP Chair on brand driven disputes for sophisticated clients, with immediate exposure to how matters are run and decisions are made.
The Associate will be involved in trademark, trade dress, and unfair competition matters from the ground up, supporting strategy, engaging with clients, and driving cases forward in federal court and before the TTAB. The practice is active in brand enforcement and defense, including likelihood of confusion analysis, dilution claims, false advertising disputes, and Lanham Act litigation. The Associate will contribute to enforcement programs including cease and desist strategy, handle TTAB oppositions and cancellations, and take ownership of discrete aspects of cases including preliminary injunctions, dispositive motions, and settlement strategy. The Associate will not be observing from the sidelines; they will be responsible for moving pieces of matters forward.
The ideal candidate will have experience running discrete workstreams across pleadings, motions, and discovery including ESI, along with hands on involvement in deposition preparation and case development. You should be comfortable taking ownership of assignments, communicating directly with clients, managing portions of matters, and forming initial views on strategy before looping in partners. Strong familiarity with TTAB practice and brand enforcement is expected. Exposure to copyright or adjacent IP litigation is a plus.
Bar admission in New York State required. Writing sample will be required. Compensation includes base salary of $195K to $245K plus hours based bonus and top benefits package. This is a role for a fourth year associate who is doing strong work but wants more responsibility, more direct client exposure, and a clearer path to becoming a go to trademark litigator within a practice that is actively building and busy.
