This on-site position reports to the Trade Compliance Manager – Americas and is responsible for supporting and enhancing global customs compliance and security programs. The role performs region-specific trade compliance functions with a strong emphasis on data analysis, risk assessment, and continuous improvement. The position partners with business units to support global compliance objectives and drive a best-in-class, analytics-driven compliance program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Partner with the Regional TC Manager to develop, implement, and continuously improve global customs compliance and security programs, leveraging data analytics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Analyze customs data and transactional activity to ensure compliance with Canadian, U.S., and international customs regulations, operating policies, and internal/external control requirements.
  • Own the execution, monitoring, and reporting of key customs controls and KPIs, utilizing advanced Excel tools (pivot tables, Power Query, data modeling) and SharePoint-based dashboards to track performance and compliance metrics.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, Global Supply Chain (GSC), Legal, and other stakeholders to collect, validate, and analyze data necessary for accurate customs declarations and to proactively prevent clearance delays.
  • Conduct in-depth research and analytical review for:
  • Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification
  • Valuation methodologies
  • Country of origin determinations
  • Trade agreement eligibility and exclusion analysis
  • Duty recovery opportunities (e.g., drawbacks, refunds)

Ensure accurate data submission to customs authorities and other government agencies; prepare and submit applications for National Customs Rulings as required.

  • FTA & Duty Optimization:Analyze and audit Bills of Materials (BOMs) and supplier documentation for trade agreement qualification
  • Identify duty savings opportunities through data-driven analysis
  • Prepare FTA certificates and support annual supplier solicitation processes
  • Analyze and prepare duty relief and drawback claims
  • Perform data-driven internal audits and compliance reviews, including monthly transaction testing (broker-cleared and self-cleared shipments), identifying trends, discrepancies, and root causes; drive corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain SharePoint-based compliance platforms for document management, audit tracking, reporting dashboards, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Interface with customs agencies, brokers, consultants, and service providers to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data submissions.
  • Organize and maintain compliant, audit-ready recordkeeping systems for import/export transactions, FTAs, drawbacks, and related programs per regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain records including Manufacturer’s Affidavits, ADD/CVD cases, USMCA, CETA, and other trade agreements.
  • Support trade security programs (CTPAT, AEO, PIP) with risk analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and support automation initiatives, including system implementation, testing, and continuous improvement through data analytics.
  • Design and deliver compliance training programs, incorporating data insights and real-case analysis to enhance awareness and adherence across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, or related field; Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or equivalent preferred
  • 5–7 years of progressive, analytics-focused customs compliance experience, with demonstrated expertise in Canadian and U.S. customs regulations
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven track record of leveraging data analytics to drive compliance improvements and cost savings
  • Demonstrated initiative, critical thinking, and commitment to continuous improvement


Pay Range: $70,000 - $80,000
