Job Title: Tooling Technician

Job Description

The Tooling Technician supports a new product launch by serving as a critical link between maintenance, engineering, and production. This role focuses on setting up, changing over, and maintaining gauges, molds, and tooling for multiple product lines, while performing both mechanical and electrical tasks. The technician ensures equipment and tooling run reliably and safely, supports daily production needs, and develops a complete understanding of the area processes, equipment, and support systems.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and maintain gauges, molds, and tooling to support various product lines and ensure proper machine operation.
  • Perform machine setup and changeover activities to switch tooling and molds for different production runs.
  • Use hand tools to remove, install, and secure tooling and related components safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct hand measurements to verify parts, tooling dimensions, and product quality during setup and production.
  • Use a multimeter to check voltage, current, and resistance, and to verify proper electrical function of equipment and components.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting on production equipment, including diagnosing issues using electrical schematics.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints to identify components, wiring, and system layouts for troubleshooting and setup.
  • Carry out mechanical troubleshooting on equipment, including work on pneumatics, cylinders, conveyors, and related systems.
  • Work with pneumatic cylinders, furnaces, and other mechanical systems to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently.
  • Collect data related to daily tool performance and associated product performance to support continuous improvement and problem-solving.
  • Monitor tooling and equipment performance throughout the shift and take corrective actions when performance issues arise.
  • Develop a complete understanding of the assigned area processes, equipment, and support systems to become a subject matter resource.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to coordinate tooling changes, resolve issues, and support launch activities.
  • Support the successful launch of the new product line by ensuring tooling readiness and reliable operation.
  • Follow safety procedures and use required PPE at all times, especially when working near furnaces and hot processes.
  • Work on different shifts as assigned (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) and be available for overtime as needed to support production demands.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience with electrical troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use a multimeter to check voltage, current, and resistance for diagnostic purposes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience working on pneumatic cylinders and related systems.
  • Experience with machine setup and machine changeover for different product lines.
  • Ability to perform accurate hand measurements to verify tooling and part dimensions.
  • Skill in using hand tools to change and adjust tooling and equipment components.
  • Experience working with conveyors and associated mechanical systems.
  • General electrical and mechanical knowledge suitable for a maintenance or tooling support role.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for both mechanical and electrical issues.

Hiring on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift - 8 hours shifts

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $29.00/hr.
