POSITION SUMMARY

The employee in this position is responsible for providing superior service to both internal and external guests.  Must maintain a fun and friendly attitude with employees and guests. Ensures that all food preparation and service areas are clean and safe for guests and employees. Sous Chef is directly responsible for management of all kitchen staff and all food production.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, fun, and friendly environment for guests and employees.

  • Provides superior guest service, positively affects interactions with guests and employees, and has the resiliency to deal with difficult guests in all types of business conditions and the ability to work effectively and courteously with fellow employees. 

  • Train staff in the safe and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.

  • Manage staff to reach departmental goals and maintain appropriate service levels.

  • Demonstrate ability to maintain requisite quality levels of prepared foods.

  • Supervise food preparation to ensure wholesome, appetizing and consistently high-quality food is served.

  • Completes all required training within designated time frames. 

  • Reports to work in a neat, clean and pressed uniform. (or clothing if no uniform is required) Well-groomed hair and personal hygiene are essential.

  • Knowledge and demonstration of workplace safety procedures.

  • Must wear black, slip resistant shoes at all times 

  • Manages food inventory, ordering food products, and supervises proper storage procedures.

  • Delegates authority and assign tasks to kitchen staff.

     

  • Interact well with customers and pleasantly resolve all customer issues.

  • Selects, trains and evaluates Kitchen staff. Disciplines as necessary in a professional manner.

  • Act in ways that will surprise and delight our guests. Leave guests with positive feelings about our property and establish/maintain relationships with them. Approach each situation with a “yes we can” attitude, every guest every time.

  • Comply with our drug & alcohol-free workplace. Subject to post offer, for cause and post-accident drug tests.

  • Completes all required training within designated time frames. 

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Casino and kitchen environment. Exposure to smoke, bright light, heat and moisture for extended periods of time. May include boat or floating barge.
  • A broad variety of tasks, and irregular work schedule will be required.
  • Must be able to move effectively and stand for long periods of time.
  • Job consists of standing or walking/standing 75%, sitting 15%, and lifting 10%.
  • Walking/Standing 100% of which 10% is bending/lifting (overhead up to 50lbs repetitively and push/pull 450 lbs. on a wheeled cart, and 200lbs as a team)

  • Ability to be at work on time as scheduled on a regular basis which may include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • All food service employees are required to wear slip resistant shoes.
  • Must be able to be photographed and video food for displays and promotions.
