Execute standardized testing protocols including conducting tests on components, assemblies, systems, full vehicles, and software for use on construction equipment with minimal supervision.  Daily operation of testing programs while keeping detailed logs of test activity and results.  Continual detailed documentation of Reliability Growth testing including Customer Demonstration Test (CDT), Customer Demonstration Audits (CDA), Product Verification Audits (PVA) and Pre Production Partner (PPP) testing with operators.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• Ability to read write and understand technical writing and engineering drawings. 
• Ability to complete job related training including Six Sigma Red Belt training.
• Familiarization with applicable Industry Standards.
• Basic to Intermediate knowledge of data acquisition equipment including their various potential uses, setup and execution.
• Basic mechanical aptitude including the understanding and proper usage of typical automotive or heavy equipment assembly and testing tools such as torque wrenches, air tools, and multimeters.
• Experience using fabrication tools such as grinders, saws, drills, welders, and torches.
• Experience operating equipment such as fork lifts and yard cranes.
• Advanced electrical, controls, and/or hydraulic trouble shooting of machine problems.
• Intermediate knowledge and application of systems and software used for managing test data and processes.
• Intermediate knowledge and application of data acquisition systems including Edaq and Vishay.
• Possess basic to intermediate technical writing skills.
• Solid understanding of electrical schematics, and control systems architectures.
• Experience with the operation of DMM, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum analyzers, Function generators, Ground bond testers, Hipot Tester, Electronic loads, Power supplies and other Electrical Lab tools for test data acquisition and test setup debugging.
• A working knowledge of CAN Bus control systems construction and layout.
• Knowledge of Electrical Component and Electrical harnesses and their functionality as related to construction equipment.
• Knowledge to setup and operate data acquisition and automation PLC equipment for parameters such as voltage, current, resistance, digital signals, temperature, rpm’s, velocity, force, tension, pressure and CAN Bus.
• Experience with various I/O signal types including 4-20mA, +/- 5-10V, mV/V, thermocouple and CAN.
• Ability to construct test harnesses with a solid understanding of the processes needed for proper assembly. 

• Mechanical skills with an understanding of assembly processes for construction equipment.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
• CCO Certified or ability to obtain within 9 months of hire.
• Machine Tool and fabrication experience a plus.
• Ability to learn and use the Verification Management System.
• Ability to operate various types of mobile and stationary cranes including, but not limited to, Truck-Mounted, Rough Terrain, Carry Deck, and Crawler Cranes.
• Ability to read, understand, and utilize standard ASAE Crane & Rigging symbols/signals 
• Ability to use basic PC/laptop/tablet & employee desktop functions 
• Ability to read and understand Engineering drawings.
• Ability to utilize basic measurement devices such as a tape measure, pressure gauges, electrical multimeter.
• Ability to read and understand standard Test Documents including CDA/CDT procedures.
• Ability to properly install strain gauges.
• Basic Mathematical Skills:  ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Basic understanding of electrical and hydraulic schematics and symbols.
• • Ability to interface with and operate automated test systems via computer controls
• Experience with 12/24VDC automotive electrical systems.
• Basic understanding of embedded control applications and electronic components.

 

Proper usage of typical automotive or heavy equipment assembly and testing tools such as dynamometers, torque wrenches, electronic diagnostics, etc.
• Intermediate hydraulic knowledge, application, controls, and troubleshooting.
• Intermediate Engine, Drivetrain and general mechanical component testing knowledge.
• Basic ability to interpret and analyze collected data through various graphing and post processing software programs.
• Fixture fabrication and machining knowledge preferred.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering
  • 1-3 Years of Experience
  • Experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, test related environment or off-road construction equipment

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  •  CDL Class A or B License preferred, but not necessary. 
     

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) required, by company policy, for the job being performed. 
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.      

 

Work Environment: 

  • Ability to perform job functions in a safe manner.

  • Willing to work outside at least 80% of the time.
