The Cary Tennis Park is a premier tennis facility in theheart of the Triangle area of North Carolina. The Tennis Park features 32 championship courts, including one stadium court with permanent seating and seven covered courts, and hosts frequent events and tournaments such as junior circuits, USTA junior and adult events, college events, and ATP professional events throughout the year. The Cary Tennis Park is seeking a skilled tennis professional with a knack for teaching and a desire to join an energetic, hardworking, and passionate team. In addition to providing high-quality tennis instruction and services, this position will collaborate with others to plan, organize, schedule, and promote a variety of specialized tennis programs, tournaments and activities. The ideal candidate exhibits a unique blend of high-performance playing and coaching experience, paired with an extraordinary dedication to working as a team to serve the Tennis Park as a whole and the greater tennis community. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Tennis Park Supervisor, and/or the Head Tennis Professional, and/or the Junior Tennis Developmental Specialist, and/or the Tennis Programs Specialist.

The anticipated hiring range is $60,000-80,000, determined by a combination of administrative and on-court compensation. Teach programs and lessons as assigned by supervisor
Encourage patrons to utilize the Cary Tennis Park Pro Shop
Promote the Cary Tennis Park Annual Pass
Assist with distribution and collection of program evaluation forms
Complete individualized participant evaluation forms and distribute to program participants
Conduct individual participant skill evaluations as assigned supervisor
Develop private lesson clientele
Maintain up-to-date lesson confirmation on Salesforce and court requesting
Develop short- and long-term goals with students and review on a regular basis
Ensure patrons know the next step in their tennis progression
Promote all Cary Tennis Park programs and offerings to patrons
Assist and participate with Cary Tennis Park tournaments/events as assigned by supervisor
Check class lists for assigned classes to ensure appropriate staffing levels have been assigned and communicate with patrons as appropriate
Serve as tournament director or assistant tournament director for USTA sanctioned tournaments as assigned by supervisor
Plan and implement local Cary Tennis Park tournaments and events as assigned by supervisor
Develop knowledge and understanding of NC, Southern and National junior tournaments and point systems
Assist with court maintenance items, including but not limited to light windscreen maintenance, net maintenance checks and replacement, and scorekeeper repair and replacement
Assist with maintaining neat and orderly storage spaces
Organize, plan and implement adult socials and other special events
Perform other job-related tasks as required.
Comprehensive knowledge of tennis skills, rules and strategies and some knowledge of other sports
Knowledge of modern principles and practices of recreation and physical education
Knowledge of business administration and practices in planning and researching programs, clinics and tournaments
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Town and community officials, employees, media personnel, volunteer groups and the public
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Ability to prepare and maintain records
Ability to resolve disputes with fairness and impartiality.
Ability to work a variable work schedule to include evenings and /or weekends.
Education and Experience Requires playing experience at a minimum of high school varsity level AND at least two years of teaching experience. USPTA or USPTR certification or ability to obtain such certification within the first year of employment is required.
Preference will be given to candidates who havefour years of varsity college level playing experience.
Physical Requirements The work in this class is moderate in that considerable movement is required in managing and supervising classes and programs. An employee must be able to talk, hear, and see, and must be able to lift moderately heavy items. An employee must also be able to move freely in order to visit activity sites and handle equipment. Visual acuity is necessary in order to read and write handwritten and typewritten materials. Ability to be out on the tennis courts and feed tennis balls, in some cases in extreme weather conditions, for extended periods of time. Conditions of Employment Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal history check, SBI finger-printing, motor vehicle records check, education verification and credit history review) and satisfactory reference checks prior to employment.
