Temporary People Operations Specialist

Our client, areal estate development firm, is looking for a temporary People Operations Specialist to assist their team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of core HR processes and employee lifecycle transactions across the organization.


This assignment starts asap and will last around 4-5 months.


Hours: 9am – 5/6pm

*Hybrid schedule


Location: Midtown


Responsibilities:

  • Process onboarding, job changes, transfers, and offboarding transactions in HRIS.
  • Prepare employee documentation including status change letters and separation materials.
  • Ensure completion of new hire paperwork, I-9 compliance, and background checks.
  • Maintain accurate employee records in compliance with company policy and legal requirements.
  • Enter, audit, and maintain employee data across HRIS, payroll, and benefits systems.
  • Perform data audits and resolve discrepancies.
  • Generate standard and ad-hoc reports on headcount, turnover, and workforce activity.
  • Support HR system updates, testing, and process improvements.
  • Serve as a primary contact for employee HR questions related to policies, benefits, and processes.
  • Respond to employee and manager inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Escalate complex employee relations or compliance matters as appropriate.
  • Support HR initiatives such as open enrollment, performance cycles, and audits.
  • Ensure HR transactions comply with applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain required notices, documentation, and audit-ready records.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation.
  • Follow SOPs and contribute to process improvements.


Qualifications

  • Previous experience in HR administration, HR operations, or People Operations.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS, payroll coordination, and employee data management.
  • Experience supporting multi-state or multi-site workforces preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes, compliance basics, and employee lifecycle administration.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service approach with professional communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR reporting tools.
