Position Overview

This position serves as the ONS Community Engagement Specialist within the Quality Improvement Division. The role is responsible for a diverse portfolio ranging from advanced financial oversight and forensic investigation coordination to public-facing outreach and program development for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC).


Core Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Outreach

  • Digital Strategy: Create social media content designed to drive family participation for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC).
  • Program Awareness: Increase public awareness of the Farmer's Market Nutrition Program.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Engage directly with farmers and authorized WIC retailers to strengthen program networks.
  • Material Development: Create applicant-facing materials and assist with the creation of job aids for local area WIC providers.

Quality Improvement & Operational Support

  • Administrative Tools: Support ONS by creating monitoring tools, hiring packets, and specialized methods to gauge participant satisfaction.
  • Research & Feedback: Design and implement surveys for ONS grantee feedback.
  • Grant Management: Assist the Quality Improvement Division with editing grants to ensure they align with Department goals.
  • Collaboration: Support various special projects through proactive internal collaboration.


This is a temporary, part-time position that will work about 24 hours per week.


Minimum Requirements

Training: Graduation from an accredited college or university. Preference may be given to candidates with a major in the area of public or business administration, accounting, industrial relations, communications or related field.

Substitution: Additional qualifying experience as described below may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required training.

Experience: One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment in a technical or advanced clerical position providing administrative services such as accounting, budgeting, project monitoring and reporting, personnel, or procurement and property.Experience must have been at the Office Assistant 3 or Accounting Technician 3 level or higher.

Substitution: Successful completion of graduate study in an accredited college or university in one of the above fields may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
