JOB PURPOSE:

Under general supervision of the Building/Grounds Supervisor, this position will be responsible for all grounds maintenance and general cleanup of specific areas on the SCDJJ property to include mowing, trimming, edging of grass, tree trimming, and general custodial work regarding grounds.

JOB RESPONSABILITIES:

Will be responsible for the mowing and trimming of the grounds within an assigned area at SCDJJ.

Will be responsible for the edging of an assigned area at SCDJJ.

Will make recommendations regarding shrub and tree trimming within an assigned area and assist in that work.

Will be responsible for trash removal in an assigned area at SCDJJ.

STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma and custodial or groundskeeping experience directly related to the area of employment.Must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 years of age.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


Knowledge of maintaining grounds; including but not limited to trimming of shrubs, bushes and trees, as well as grounds maintenance equipment/repair.

Basic identification skills of common plant pests/diseases and treatments.

Computer knowledge to include typing and general input of data.

Good oral communication is a must.

Must be able to work in a secured facility, around incarcerated youth.

This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.
