Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group is seeking a Trade Compliance Manager on an interim to permanent basis.
Overview: We are seeking a Trade Compliance Manager to work in the global manufacturing and solutions industry
Company: A global industrial manufacturer of aluminum
Experience: 6+ years of experience with Trade Compliance and classification
Location: Hybrid (Chicagoland, IL)
Responsibilities Include:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement trade strategies that align with the company’s business objectives and support global operations.
- Trade Compliance: Ensure compliance with all international trade laws and regulations, including import/export requirements, customs regulations, and trade agreements. Develop policies and procedures to mitigate risks associated with global trade.
- Vendor and Carrier Management: Manage relationships with freight forwarders and customs brokers. Negotiate contracts and service agreements to achieve the best value and performance. Lead Quarterly Business Reviews with Brokers and Freight Forwarders.
- Cost Management: Monitor and control international logistics and trade-related costs, implementing cost-saving initiatives and strategies to achieve financial targets.
- Performance Metrics: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of international logistics and trade operations. Use data-driven insights to make improvements and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of trade professionals. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage risks related to international logistics and trade, including supply chain disruptions, compliance issues, and geopolitical factors. Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions.
- Technology Integration: Evaluate and implement trade management technologies and tools to enhance visibility, control, and efficiency in operations.
Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
- Customs Broker License or Certified Customs Specialist
- 6+ years of experience in Trade Compliance role within an aluminum or manufacturing background to assist with classifications
- Demonstrated expertise and experience with trade compliance regulations, operational processes, purchasing procedures, incoterms, and international logistics
Pay Rate: $85
