Job Summary and Qualifications

The Central Monitoring Technician [CMT] will provide constant monitoring of heart rhythms and dysrhythmia interpretation as directed by the physician or nurse. The CMT is also responsible for the communication of Sepsis Prevention and Optimization of Therapy (SPOT).

What will you do in this role:

· Central Monitoring Technician provides constant monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation of heart rhythms and document per Cardiac Telemetry Monitoring policy.

· Performs functions related to basic dysrhythmia interpretation and monitoring.

· Acquires, measures, and provides initial interpretation of electrocardiogram waveforms per protocol and upon request from providers and/or nurse.

· May provide oversight of pulse oximetry and blood pressure monitoring.

· Documents irregular rhythms and monitors cardiac changes.

· Assures the patients who require oversight of cardiac monitoring are accurately admitted to the monitoring software system.

· Identifies and communicates abnormal and/or significant changes in cardiac rhythms and pulse oximetry readings to the unit staff in the appropriate time frame per protocol.

· Notifies staff of low batteries and leads off.

· Serves as a resource to unit staff for lead placement, equipment management and troubleshooting of telemetry and cardiac monitoring equipment.

· Deploys and receives telemetry monitoring equipment.

· Cleans returned equipment using infection prevention protocols.

· Maintains inventory of telemetry equipment and supplies.

· Monitors, records and communicate patient condition.

· Adheres to Sepsis and SPOT policy and procedure.

· Responds to SPOT alerts and notifies the nurse assigned to patient that a sepsis assessment is needed per policy.

· Orients and mentors new staff members.

What qualifications will you need:

· High school graduate or GED required

· BLS certification required within 30 days of beginning of employment
