Technology System Specialist III (Senior Compute Engineer)

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Compute Engineer to support and modernize enterprise compute environments across Linux, UNIX (AIX, HP-UX), and Windows platforms in a hybrid cloud setting. This role focuses on automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and platform engineering, working closely with managed service providers (MSPs) to deliver scalable, reliable solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Engineer and support compute platforms across Linux, UNIX, and Windows environments
  • Develop and maintain Terraform and Ansible solutions for automated provisioning and configuration
  • Define and enforce OS standards, patching, security hardening, and gold images
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for performance, patching, authentication, and infrastructure issues
  • Guide MSP teams, validate deliverables, and ensure alignment with engineering standards
  • Lead OS lifecycle upgrades with proper validation and rollback strategies
  • Build reusable and scalable automation frameworks and IaC modules
  • Partner with architecture teams on reference designs and deployment pipelines
  • Drive automation to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency
  • Support virtualization and private cloud platforms (hyperconverged experience preferred)
  • Improve CMDB data quality through automation and integration
  • Identify and implement AI-driven operational improvements (incident triage, remediation automation)


Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in Linux, UNIX (AIX, HP-UX), and Windows Server environments
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Terraform and Ansible
  • Experience working within MSP or outsourced delivery models
  • Deep troubleshooting and system engineering experience
  • Scripting proficiency in Shell, Python, or PowerShell
  • Experience with system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
  • Knowledge of CMDB and IT operations processes
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments (on-prem + public cloud)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hyperconverged infrastructure (e.g., VxRail)
  • Exposure to AI/automation frameworks in IT operations
  • Background in large enterprise or regulated environments
