Woodcrest School, a K-8 program, seeks a full time innovative, dynamic, and forward-thinking educator to serve as our Technology (K – 6) & Robotics Teacher (3 – 6) and Middle School Robotics Team Coach. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate leader to revamp and elevate our overall technology program, expand our 3–5 robotics VEX-IQ offerings, and continue the strong competitive tradition of our highly successful middle school VEX-V5 program.


We are looking for someone who not only teaches technology, but inspires creativity, engineering thinking, and problem-solving at every grade level.


Position Overview


Elementary Technology & Robotics (Grades K–5)

The ideal candidate will design and lead a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate technology curriculum that integrates:

  • Coding and computational thinking
  • Robotics and engineering design
  • Digital literacy and responsible technology use
  • Innovation and project-based learning
  • Cross-curricular integration with math, science, and more


This role includes building and growing a structured robotics pathway for grades 3–5 that feeds into our competitive middle school program.

Middle School Robotics Coach (Competitive VEX-V5 Program)


Our middle school robotics teams compete at a high level in the VEX-V5 Robotics Competition.


The coach will:

  • Lead and mentor competitive teams
  • Guide students in advanced design, engineering, coding, and strategy
  • Prepare teams for regional and state competitions
  • Sustain and elevate a tradition of excellence

The ideal candidate thrives in competitive environments while fostering teamwork, resilience, and leadership in students.


Key Responsibilities


Program Development

  • Audit, redesign, and implement a cohesive K–8 technology vision
  • Develop a vertically aligned robotics curriculum (Grades 3–8)
  • Expand student participation in robotics
  • Maintain and manage robotics equipment, materials, and technology resources


Instruction & Coaching

  • Teach engaging, hands-on technology classes for elementary students
  • Coach and supervise middle school robotics teams
  • Provide after-school robotics programming
  • Differentiate instruction to meet varied skill levels
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and creative problem-solving


Competition Leadership

  • Register and manage competition logistics
  • Mentor students in engineering notebooks, documentation, and presentations
  • Prepare teams for tournaments and championship-level performance
  • Communicate effectively with families about expectations and events


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related field.
  • Experience teaching technology and/or robotics in an elementary or middle school setting
  • Experience coaching competitive robotics (VEX-IQ and VEX-V5 experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of engineering design process and project-based learning
  • Experience with robotics platforms (VEX, LEGO, etc.)
  • Excellent classroom management and team-building skills
  • Ability to inspire students across a range of ages and abilities
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
