Job Title: Pipe Prep, Fabrication, and Tubing Technician

Job Description

The Pipe Prep, Fabrication, and Tubing Technician plays a key role in supporting shop fabrication and production operations. In this hands‑on position, you will cut and prepare pipe, run and install tubing, and operate fabrication equipment such as band saws and ironworkers. Your work ensures materials are accurate, clean, and production‑ready for downstream welding, assembly, and integration teams. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision, works safely, and is eager to continue developing their fabrication skills in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Cut, prepare, and stage pipe and tubing based on production schedules and job requirements.
  • Measure, mark, and verify materials using drawings, cut lists, and work instructions.
  • Install and route tubing in accordance with drawings, specifications, and shop standards.
  • Safely operate band saws, ironworkers, grinders, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Deburr, grind, bevel, clean, and prep materials to ensure weld‑ready condition.
  • Confirm material type, dimensions, and job requirements before cutting to prevent rework.
  • Maintain an organized workflow and a clean, safe work area to support shop efficiency.
  • Proactively identify and communicate issues such as material defects, dimensional discrepancies, missing information, or tooling concerns.
  • Support fabrication readiness for welders, assemblers, and integration teams.
  • Perform basic self‑inspection to verify accuracy, completeness, and workmanship.
  • Consistently follow safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to shop organization, tooling, and fabrication flow.
  • Learn and operate additional fabrication equipment and processes as needed, including potential operation of a knee mill.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, mechanical, or industrial shop environment.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform accurate measurements and layout.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, grinders, and basic fabrication equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a hands‑on production role.
  • Ability to read and follow drawings, cut lists, work instructions, and supervisor direction.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Reliable attendance and a consistent, dependable work ethic.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience cutting and prepping pipe in a fabrication setting.
  • Experience running and installing tubing systems.
  • Familiarity with band saw and ironworker operation.
  • Experience working with stainless steel materials.
  • Ability to read fabrication or isometric drawings.
  • Experience deburring, beveling, and preparing weld‑ready material.
  • Interest in expanding skills by learning additional fabrication equipment, including a knee mill.

Work Environment

This position is based in an active manufacturing shop where safety and teamwork are top priorities. The role requires standing and walking for extended periods and regularly lifting, carrying, and moving pipe, tubing, and fabrication materials. Physical activities include bending, kneeling, and crouching while operating equipment such as band saws, ironworkers, and grinders with required PPE.

Schedule options include Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm, or a flex schedule of Monday–Thursday, 6:30 am–5:00 pm, with overtime available as needed.

This is a Contract position based out of Rockledge, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
